PHILADELPHIA (March 12, 2025) – From unforgettable concerts under the stars to industry-leading community initiatives, the Mann Center for the Performing Arts is making 2025 its biggest season yet. This spring, summer, and fall, the Mann’s 22-acre campus in Fairmount Park will host a wicked good lineup of performances, from genre-bending orchestral collaborations with Cynthia Erivo and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, to rock legends Rod Stewart, Phish, Billy Idol and Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band, Philadelphia’s own Mt. Joy for two nights at TD Pavilion, and hip-hop’s biggest headliners including D’Angelo with the Roots, Lenny Kravitz, Meek Mill, and many more at hip-hop’s greatest festival, the Roots Picnic. This season has something for everyone at the Mann, and new shows are being added weekly.
“The Mann has always been a place where music, culture, and community come together, and this season takes it to new heights,” said Catherine M. Cahill, president and CEO of the Mann. “With an incredible lineup of international and nationally acclaimed artists and performances, groundbreaking artistic collaborations, expanded community partnerships, there is something for everyone. We are also thrilled to announce the launch of our new Mann Center Institute for Creative Arts and Community Impact as we look to reimagine the role an arts institution can play in developing career opportunities for urban youth, empowering communities, and fostering social impact. We’re presenting world-class musicians and companies, collaborating with our booking partner Live Nation Entertainment, amplifying new voices, and creating opportunities for young people; this season reinforces the Mann’s essential role as Philadelphia’s cultural center.”
Companies in Residence
BalletX, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, returns for the fourth year of its residency to open the Mann’s 2025 season with a two-day celebration of art, community, and the power of dance during the BalletX Festival at the Mann. On May 2 and 3, experience the full-length world premiere of Jennifer Archibald’s Maslow’s Peak. With a visionary team of international artists and collaborators including award-winning designer Guy de Lancey, Archibald will deliver a daring new vision inspired by the classic novel, Lord of the Flies.
In residence at the Mann’s Parkside Avenue location since 1976, The Philadelphia Orchestra begins this season at the Mann with a classical favorite, Beethoven’s Fifth on June 17. On June 20, the Orchestra will transport viewers to a galaxy far, far away as they perform Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert for this season’s Movies @ the Mann performance. A magical evening awaits patrons on June 21, when GRAMMY®, Emmy® and Tony® Award–winning and three-time Oscar®-nominated artist Cynthia Erivo performs with the Fabulous Philadelphians. Taking on all-new symphonic arrangements, Erivo and the Orchestra will perform her new album, which was uniquely produced by stacking layers and layers of vocal tracks to create the record’s melodies and harmonies.
The Mann will also welcome The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on July 28 for a collaboration with Australian rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The performance will be King Gizzard’s world premiere orchestral collaboration.
HBCU Festival Presented by TD Bank and The Mann Center Institute for Creative Arts & Community Impact
The Mann will once again open its Fairmount Park campus to celebrate the rich history and culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities with the return of its HBCU Festival presented by TD Bank on May 17. The festival’s debut in 2023 became one of the country’s largest college festivals showcasing HBCUs, with more than 30,000 registrants. This year’s free event will include an expansive college fair with representatives from 25 HBCUs; a career fair comprised of Philadelphia area-employers, trade unions and apprentice programs; a community fair to spotlight local businesses and organizations; a wellness zone featuring free health resources and screenings from Jefferson Health; and of course, rousing performances by HBCU drumlines, choirs and cheer squads.
This season also marks the launch of the Mann Center Institute for Creative Arts & Community Impact, a bold new initiative expanding the venue’s commitment to arts education, workforce development, and community engagement. Led by nationally recognized arts education leader Frank Machos, Ph.D., the Institute will provide transformative opportunities for Philadelphia’s youth, fostering career pathways in the music industry, enhancing out-of-school time programming, and deepening the Mann’s role as a cultural hub – all of which reimagine the role and responsibility of a performing arts institution to support its community.
Downstage @ the Mann
The Mann’s innovative Downstage @ the Mann series also returns in 2025, this year celebrating award-winning cuisine, live music, and cultural storytelling as the Mann’s Presser Foundation Stage is transformed into an intimate, dynamic dinner-and-a-show experience for one night only.
