CHRIS BRUNER IS NEW BOARD CHAIRMAN OF THE MANN

Bruner Transitions Into Role Following Justin Klein’s Successful Term as Chair;
Aims Strategic Focus on the Mann’s Significance to the Region

Chris Bruner

PHILADELPHIA (March 4, 2014) – The Board of Directors of the Mann Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce it has approved Chris Bruner, Managing Partner, EY Philadelphia, as the new Board Chairman, effective March 1.

We are so pleased to welcome Chris into this critical role with the Mann. He has been a member of our board since 2006 and has chaired our audit and finance committee. We have ambitious plans for the Mann’s future, and Chris’ leadership, experience and focus on strategic planning and resource alignment are invaluable assets as we continue to advance our business model,” said Catherine M. Cahill, President and CEO of the Mann.

Bruner has been with EY for 27 years and in the Philadelphia market for nine years. In addition to the Mann, he serves on the boards of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, CEO Council for Growth and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

“As a board member, your experience is directly related to the quality of the staff. I am very excited to work with Cathy in this capacity; I think the world of her and her team,” said Bruner. “Job one will be continuing to increase the amount of contributed revenue to this cultural treasure for Philadelphia and the region. We need to continue to communicate the significance and incredibly strong case for the Mann to public and private funders,” he said.

Bruner succeeds Justin P. Klein, Partner and Practice Leader, Securities Group, Ballard Spahr LLP, as the Mann’s chairman.  Klein served in that capacity for eight years, during which time he led the organization through two successful capital campaigns, raising nearly $30 million, and most recently, guided the Mann through an 18-month strategic planning process. He has been a member of the Mann board for 13 years and will continue on in that role.  “Justin introduced me to the Mann, and it’s been a great experience,” said Bruner. “Like him, I have a lot vested in this organization and a keen interest in its long-term success.”
