THE MANN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS APPOINTS FOUR NEW MEMBERS TO ITS BOARD

PHILADELPHIA (Aug. 19, 2024) — The Mann Center for the Performing Arts announces four new members appointed to its board of directors: Lorraine S. Hirschberg, Marjorie Ogilvie, Kevin Hoff and Chris Magarity. This cohort brings a collective breadth of experience in management and oversight of small-to-large sized businesses and properties, as well as a shared commitment to strengthen the Mann's mission of being an active community stakeholder in Philadelphia.

Cahill, president and CEO of the Mann. “They are leaders in their industries and organizations and, with their diverse perspectives and experiences, will enhance Mann’s efforts to serve the Philadelphia community and advance our mission of presenting world-class artists and free-of-charge arts education to the young people we engage each year. Together, we look forward to driving innovation and expanding our reach to make the arts inclusive and impactful for everyone.”

LORRAINE S. HIRSCHBERG is recently retired from Arch Capital Group Ltd., a Bermuda-based insurance company. Her career has spanned quantitative investment management, strategic insurance asset allocation and relationship management.

Hirschberg has been working with the Mann for more than 10 years and brings her history with the organization back to the board. She joined the chairman’s council of the Mann in 2013 and later served on the Mann’s board from 2015 to 2017. 

“I am excited to join the Mann’s board and build on my long-standing relationship with this Philadelphia landmark. Having been involved with the Mann since 2013, I am eager to contribute to its rich legacy and innovative programs,” said Hirschberg.

Hirshberg studied math and economics at Rutgers University and has a master’s degree in qualitative analysis from NYU, as well as an MBA from Temple University. KEVIN HOFF, a retired CPA, spent the majority of his career in public accounting serving a diverse client base from emerging family-owned businesses to large public entities. Additionally, he has held finance and accounting roles in the publishing, recreational construction and consulting industries.

Hoff was the founding treasurer of Indianapolis Dance Company and president of the board of directors of Indianapolis Speech and Hearing Center. 

“Attending performances at the Mann has been one of the highlights of making the Philadelphia area home for our family. I look forward to assisting the board in expanding the Mann's exposure, outreach and impact in the community,” said Hoff.

Hoff earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University and resides in Newtown Square.

CHRIS MAGARITY serves as the chief operating officer for the MileOne Autogroup’s BMW and Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Fort Washington, PA.

Magarity is also the owner and partner of two full-service restaurants in Conshohocken and has two more restaurants scheduled to open in the fall of 2024 in Fort Washington and Glenside. Most recently, Magarity and two partners have entered the quick-serve food franchise space with Federal Donuts & Chicken, a renowned Philadelphia brand.

"As a lifelong Philadelphian and music lover, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the board of this iconic venue. I have so many foundational memories and experiences at the Mann, and I am honored to be considered to play a part in continuing its tradition and impact on our city. The opportunity to have my family witness and participate in the success of this experience up close is an incredible gift I recognize and will serve enthusiastically," said Magarity.

MARJORIE OGILVIE has more than 34 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate. She currently focuses on managing the Philadelphia Business & Technology Center (PBTC), a commercial complex supporting a variety of businesses and organizations in Philadelphia’s West Parkside community.

Ogilvie’s career has been deeply rooted in her commitment to education. Her career began as a caseworker for the Washington, D.C. Welfare Department and transitioned to roles as a teacher at the American School of Guyana, religious education director at the Unitarian Church of Delaware County and classroom teacher at Lansdowne Friends School.

“I am honored to join the board at the Mann after sharing its neighborhood and already being connected to the organization in many facets. I look forward to contributing to its mission of enriching lives through music and the arts. Education has always been a cornerstone of my life, and I believe in its transformative power. I am excited to join an organization that shares this commitment to community engagement,” said Ogilvie.

Ogilvie holds a bachelor of arts degree from Howard University in philosophy and political science and a master’s degree from Temple University in special education.
