Legendary alt rock pioneers Jane’s Addiction bring their Theatre of the Escapists Tour to The Mann August 15th. Joining them will be special guest South African rave-rap duo Die Antwoord. Great bands break rules, but legends write their own. Jane’s Addiction have actually written the rule book for alternative music and culture through a combination of genre-defying classic songs such as “Been Caught Stealing,” “Jane Says,” & “Stop” coupled with a cinematic live experience. When Jane's Addiction came along, they merged alternative and rock like no one before, becoming the first alternative rock band, creating a new sound and attitude. Perry Farrell stands out as one of music's most forward-thinking and enigmatic frontmen, and his vocals soar with vibrancy, vulnerability and vitality. Guitar god Dave Navarro conjures simultaneously psychedelic and epic riffs. Stephen Perkins' tribal stomp remains hypnotic and transfixing. In 2010, Jane's Addiction began writing songs for the new album. By 2011, recording began on what would become The Great Escape Artist, an October 2011 release on Capitol, to be supported with a worldwide tour in 2012. Jane’s Addiction is Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins & Chris Chaney.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest live bands of their generation, My Morning Jacket’s spectacle of a live show has become the stuff of legend and returns to the Mann for the second season in row August 17th with special guest Band of Horses. From performing at Madison Square Garden to being nominated for a Grammy with their album Evil Urges, their achievements show no signs of slowing down. As a review by the Philadelphia Inquirer of last season’s Mann Center show noted, “The band’s star continues to rise. The reason is simple: Live, My Morning Jacket is an unstoppable force of nature”. Since forming in 1998 the group has boldly tackled new genres and ideas on each album, maintaining a perpetual evolution that is thrilling, innovative, and impossible to predict. Frontman Jim James has an immediately recognizable voice that is iconic in its own right.  Soulful and enigmatic all at once, his golden tenor can command an audience equally with heartbreaking fragility or unfettered power.
