Young People's Concert Series 2015

"Magnificent Magical Mondays"

The Mann’s annual FREE Young People’s Concert Series plays a vital role in our community outreach, making high-quality and culturally diverse performing arts programs accessible to all children in an informal atmosphere. Performances by professional and emerging artists offer our young people a chance to experience and be inspired by the talents of others their age! Here we invite everyone to travel the world without leaving Philadelphia! Below are highlights from our Magnificent Magical Monday’s series which was also our 17th season from the summer of 2015. Each performance took place from 11:00am-12:15pm on the mainstage at the Mann Center. Please stay tuned for our exciting lineup for the 2016 summer season!

July 13th | Inca Son

Inca Son returned to the stage for a wonderful exploration of the culture of South America-exemplifying the traditional music and dance of the Andes Mountains of Peru featuring the exciting scissor dance! Over 4,300 people attended this fun and interactive performance which opened our 17th season!

July 27th | Rock School for Dance Education

Returning for their 14th year to perform with our Young People’s Concert Series, the incredible Rock School delivered a dynamite show. The fusion of classical ballet, modern dance, and urban hip-hop moves encouraged the excited audience of over 6,300 people to get off their feet and join in the entertainment!

August 3rd | Rising Stars of Tomorrow

The Rising Stars of Tomorrow is a very special performance, providing the unique opportunity for the Greater Philadelphia region’s most talented young performers, aged 8-19, to get on a premier mainstage and perform in front of a live audience. This year more than 5,200 people attended and were blown away by the array of gifted performers, from singers, violinists, Irish dancers, hip-hop artists and more!

August 10th | Three Kings

In collaboration with our 2015 community festival, Liberty: Unplugged! “Three Men, Three Movements That Changed the World”, this concert was a special conclusion to the 2015 YPCS season. Honoring the lives and movements of the three men celebrated in the festival Frederick Douglas, Nelson Mandela & Martin Luther King, Jr., this concert featured powerful and emotionally charged performances. The audience of over 4,800 was moved by the variety of tributes from Danse4Nia Dance Company, UCC Praise Dance Ministry, Sharon Katz & the Peace Train, Philly Youth Poetry Movement and more!
