Black History Month Celebration Soiree 2013

On February 28, 2013 the Mann Center celebrated its 3rd annual Black History Month Celebration. The soiree was held at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts and featured performances by the Clef Club Youth Jazz Ensemble, Cheyney University Concert Choir and a rousing Mardi Gras themed finale courtesy of the Universal Brass Band and Stilt Walker. Aqueelah Jamal, host and producer of Jazz & Conversation, WURD-AM, joined as the evening’s MC. 150 guests shared in celebrating the evening and included Mann Center Board Members and Staff, Mann Center Donors, Mann Center Virtuoso Committee Members, representatives from Philadelphia City Council offices, and prestigious corporate and cultural members of the community. All guests in attendance enjoyed a full soul food menu prepared by Butter’s Soul Food and an opportunity to celebrate with the Mann Center. The Education department would like to thank all of the Mann staff for their help and support in making the evening a great success!
