BalletX returns to TD Pavilion at the Mann for two extraordinary nights of dance and live music! Experience world premiere choreography by Natasha Adorlee with live music by Jac Ross, the Philadelphia premiere of Takehiro Ueyama’s Heroes (2019) with live music by Kato Hideki, and the return of Jamar Roberts’ Eros & Psyche (2023), featuring a Philip Glass score performed live by ensemble132.

Come early to picnic on the Mann's campus and enjoy pre-show performances by local artists and students, including the BalletX Dream Team, Esperanza Youth Group, Settlement Music School, IM Dance Academy, Living Arts Dance, Philadelphia Dance Academy, Metropolitan Ballet Company, Gwendolyn Bye's Dancefusion, Philadelphia Youth Circus Group, and more!

Natasha Adorlee is an Emmy Award-winning choreographer, filmmaker, composer, and educator in San Francisco, CA. A first-generation Asian American woman, she is currently the Artistic Fellow with Amy Sewiert’s Imagery. Natasha began choreographing in 2014 while maintaining an award-winning dance career with Robert Moses’ Kin, ODC/Dance, Kate Weare and Co., and The San Francisco Symphony. After winning over ten international awards for her acclaimed short film “Take Your Time” in 2018, she has been a sought-after filmmaker, choreographer, and composer ever since.

Takehiro Ueyama‘s Heroes (2019), set to The Chairman Dances by composer John Adams, is inspired by the citizens who played a crucial role in Japan’s recovery after World War II, weaving a timeless story of dedication and perseverance in the face of extreme adversity. Born and raised in Tokyo, Ueyama is a former dancer with Paul Taylor Dance Company and founder of TAKE Dance.

Jamar Roberts, known for his “mesmerizing choreography” (Dance Magazine), returns for a new work co-commissioned with the Vail Dance Festival and featuring the music of Philip Glass, as performed by Brooklyn Rider. Roberts was a dancer and Resident Choreographer with Ailey and has created work for Complexions and New York City Ballet.
